New Study Shows Your Mood Is a Contagious Disease?

Are you in a bad mood today? There’s a chance you picked it up from a friend or family member the same way you would catch a cold!

A new study led by Rob Eyre of the University of Warwick found that moods “may spread from person to person via a process known as social contagion.”

I think we’ve all experienced this “social contagions” already. When a co-worker comes to the office in a bad mood, it spreads throughout the office pretty quickly.

Have you ever walked into a business and you can just feel the tension or negativity? You have just walked into a disease zone full of a negative “social contagion.” Get out while you still can!

Good Disease, Bad Disease

Fortunately, the study found that the opposite is true. A person in a good mood can spread that to the people around them. One person can make an entire business place happier.

This is why people say somebody has an “infectious smile.” This study proves that a smile actually is infectious.

So the truth is this: if you surround yourself with negative people, you start to feel more negative. If you surround yourself with positive people, you tend to feel more positive.

But more importantly, what disease are you spreading? When you leave your home in the morning are you spreading a happiness contagion or a negative contagion? People will judge your value to society based on what disease you are spreading.

So be infectiously positive, supportive, and happy.

Infect the world with happiness.
